A Wintry Day of Writing-January 24, 2026

I'm sitting in my family room, the Christmas tree lights on (don't judge me!) and a roaring fire in the fireplace. (Luckily, the husband knows how to make a good fire.) I just put some suet and seeds out for the birds.
The big winter storm is going on. I live in the South, but evidently not far enough south to get anything much. We had a little bit of snow this morning, but now it's just some freezing rain. Don't get me wrong, I don't want sleet. I'm sorry to any of you suffering through that or worse. But a little more snow would have been nice since we rarely see it here.
I'm working on book 3 of the SOS series. As some of you are aware, it's taken me five (grimaces) years to write the third book. Every time I started it, I just couldn't get the feel of it and had to stop. None of those aborted attempts were worth keeping.
But THIS time, things are going great. I am inspired and motivated and should be finished with it soon--my goal is a week from now. It is now clear that this will not be the end of the series, as it was originally planned to be. I'm glad I waited, because I feel like I now have a whole new set of eyes for the series. Are you a newsletter subscriber? I'll be giving a cover reveal there for the three books on February1st. https://www.subscribepage.com/b0p8h9
